GORING
A unique waterside dwelling, replacing the original property. Situated on a difficult floodplain in an area of outstanding natural beauty this distinctive scheme scheme is a striking addition to the waterfront.
Architect Anderson Orr comments, "the design reflects the materiality and language of the surrounding area, with the addition of contemporary detailing. Reimagining the original boat house to create a striking, yet sympathetic, waterside property that truly embraces modern living.
The raised plinth ensures protection from potential flooding and allows for the balconies to overhang the river, bringing the water up front and centre in the design, while optimising elevated views of the unique location. Internal spaces have been carefully orientated around external terraces and different aspects over the surrounding landscape to provide each with its own unique viewpoint and character. Each area of the raised plinth takes advantage of the beautiful setting – with private balconies overlooking the river, social terraces out to the garden and a sun deck to the above ground pool.
The interior celebrates a variety of textured and honest materials throughout – including a striking exposed steel structure, key to the building’s industrial identity – carefully curated to form a balance between a rugged and refined aesthetic, befitting of this unique waterside home".
