Josh Williams
Associate Director

Who I am and what makes me tick…
Josh is a structural engineer with over 10 years’ experience at the company, where he plays a key role in leading projects and supporting the business’s continued growth. With a relaxed but purposeful approach to leadership, he’s known for working to people’s real needs and styles—bringing the best out of teams through initiative, empathy, and experience.
What prompted you to start a career in structural engineering?
I was drawn to structural engineering because it offers the perfect balance of creativity and logical thinking. I’ve always enjoyed solving problems in practical ways while being able to think differently and approach things from new angles.
How has your experience helped you in your current role?
Over the past decade, I’ve developed a more relaxed and responsive leadership style. I’ve learned how to lead people in a way that suits them, rather than trying to apply a one-size-fits-all approach. It’s made me a better mentor, problem solver, and team player.
Which part of your work gives you the greatest sense of achievement?
I get a real buzz from finding solutions that others haven’t seen—being able to step back, see the wood for the trees, and come up with something both effective and unexpected.
How would people describe you?
Professionally, I think people would describe me as knowledgeable, hardworking, and genuinely committed to the success of both the project and the team. I try to bring a sense of fun and energy to the job, and I care deeply about the people I work with.
Personally, I’d say I come across as charismatic and approachable—someone who’s easy to talk to and willing to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in.
What motivates you to do what you do?
Being part of building the future of the company really drives me. I care about the business and enjoy contributing to its long-term success and growth.
What’s one of the most valuable lessons you’ve learned in your career?
There’s never just one solution—there’s always a way to get to where you need to be. That mindset has helped me stay flexible, creative, and determined.
What do you enjoy most about working here?
The people. There’s a genuine small, family feel that makes the work meaningful and enjoyable.
What can you be found doing when you’re not at work?
Spending time with my two little boys, going for countryside walks with my dog, and throwing myself into DIY projects around the house.
Any surprises? If I wasn’t a structural engineer? I’d probably be a professional rugby player. (Or at least I like to think so…)
What advice would you give someone starting out in the industry?
Be a sponge—listen and learn from everyone around you. Take every opportunity you can to get out on site and see how things come together in the real world. That hands-on experience is where theory becomes understanding. Ask questions, be curious, and don’t be afraid to get stuck in early. The best engineers are the ones who never stop learning.
