43A CHURCH END ROAD

This project involved an excavation into the steeply sloped garden to create a new two-story residential extension, creating two new bedrooms and additional ground floor space.

Due to limitations imposed by the root protection areas (RPA) of the adjacent trees it was necessary to have a steep excavation angle to prevent any infringement of the RPA. Temporary works were required to retain the soil, to ensure the bank didn’t collapse, the innovative Platus system was used to ensure stability throughout construction. The new semi-basement was constructed with waterproof concrete slab and retaining walls.
