Who I am and what makes me tick…

Kaiya was inspired to pursue engineering from a young age through a passion for problem-solving and hands-on building tasks, which led her to choose a T Level in Engineering and Manufacturing at college.

What prompted you to start your college course?

Ever since I was a young child, I always enjoyed solving problems with creative and building tasks. An example of this was flat pack furniture, as we all know the instructions are subpar at best, and I always enjoyed trying to work out how each piece fits and is secured together. Later in life this led me to have an interest in engineering and the -behind-the-scenes work that allowed it to function for its intended use. This then helped me in my search for further education after I had completed my GCSEs, leading me to come across the TLevel Engineering & Manufacturing course at Reading College.

What part of college work and work experience at CSD gives you the greatest sense of achievement?

Personally, I enjoy creating sketches and drawings, for example if the drawing has all the correct characteristics, scales and annotations.

How would people describe you?

People describe me as bubbly, full of life, energetic, talkative, hardworking and always up for a bit of fun!

What motivates you to do your college course and work experience at CSD?

I am motivated by the future and the potential it holds. One day, I hope to have a highly successful career in civil engineering, but for this to happen I must have a good foundation of knowledge and understanding.

What can you be found doing when not at work?

When not at work I can be found hanging out with friends or family. As well as enjoying new cultures and cuisines with my mother whether abroad or locally.
