Senior Engineer
Who I am and what makes me tick…
Naris is an experienced Structural Engineer with over 25 years of expertise, bringing a methodical approach and strong technical knowledge to innovative design solutions.
What prompted you to start a career in Structural Engineering?
I have always been drawn to the physical mechanics of how things work and the process of developing practical solutions. Structural engineering appealed to me because it involves taking a concept from initial idea through to completion. There is a great sense of satisfaction in seeing a project evolve from drawings and calculations into a tangible structure that you can physically observe and interact with.
How has your previous experience helped you at Centrespace Design?
My previous experience has given me a strong understanding of how different environments and conditions influence structural design. For example, working with considerations such as seismic activity has helped me develop a flexible approach to problem-solving and selecting appropriate structural solutions. With over twenty-five years of experience working in both Romania and the UK, I bring a broad perspective and the ability to adapt to different standards, practices, and challenges.
Which part of your work gives you the greatest sense of achievement?
I find the greatest sense of achievement in continuously developing my expertise. Learning new design approaches, gaining technical knowledge, and keeping up with industry innovations are particularly rewarding. Applying this evolving knowledge to real projects and seeing the results in practice is highly fulfilling.
How would people describe you?
From a professional perspective, I would say I am methodical and well-organised. I place strong emphasis on documenting my work thoroughly, ensuring that designs and decisions can always be referenced clearly. On a personal level, colleagues would likely describe me as approachable, friendly, and easy to work with, which helps foster a positive and collaborative working environment.
What motivates you to do what you do?
I am genuinely passionate about my work, which is a key motivator for me. I believe that when you enjoy what you do and continually strive to improve, it naturally leads to professional growth and success. There is also a strong sense of satisfaction in knowing that your skills and expertise are valued and fairly rewarded.
What can you be found doing when you’re not at work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature. I am particularly interested in mountaineering and often travel in my campervan to explore new landscapes. These activities allow me to relax, recharge, and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
